Avantime : 10 years !
On September 3, 2011, association Amicale Avantime organises the 10th anniversary of Renault Avantime. Nearly 200 vehicles and at least 500 people are expected at the legendary circuit of Linas-Montlhéry near Paris, France. This international event, open to all, will gather simple owners or members of clubs from France, UK, Germany, Spain, Italy, Austria, Benelux… in the first major event about Avantime. Organised in partnership with Renault, the Avantime 10th anniversary will be an opportunity to learn more about this non-standard vehicle, still timeless regarding to its unique design, cutting-edge mix of a van, a coupé and a convertible.
Still today a "rolling ship " thanks to its innovative technique, Avantime was the first vehicle to get a very large panoramic sunroof, a double-door cinematic... Only 8557 copies of this approved concept-car were sold from 2001 to 2003. This futuristic vehicle was manufactured by Matra Automobile in partnership with Renault, two manufacturers at the height of automobile audacity in the early 2000’s. Probably too far ahead of his time, Avantime has not met commercial success, but is now enjoying a growing popularity. Current vehicles and even show-cars also remind that Avantime has not aged : the Renault R-Space for example, or the forthcoming Citroën DS5 and Range Rover Evoque.
Amicale Avantime is an association founded in 2005, it currently has 180 members in France and abroad, and aims to create friendship between passionate people, to organize friendly meetings and to exchange information. If usually organizing trips and general meetings reserved for its members, Amicale Avantime decided to open the 10th anniversary of Avantime to all lovers or curious people. "This is a unique opportunity to share our passion for this rolling object which is much more than a car," said Antoine Franc its president. "Beyond the simple passion, we have been noting in the recent years that Avantime is already a part of automotive history. It is interesting to allow passionate people to share a common event while providing non-experts the opportunity to discover Avantime." Many activities and surprises are planned for this day of September 3 : rolling sessions on the track of course, but not only. "These 10th anniversary will be an opportunity to learn still more about Avantime, including for people already invested in the subject," Antoine Franc said. "We are delighted that Renault has chosen to involve as a partner with the event to help contribute to these surprises. We are also very pleased that people who contributed to the creation of Avantime responded to be present with us. "
